Hama and Crac-des-Chevaliers

I have found the perfect place for the ultimate office party - the Crusader Castle of Crac-des-Chevaliers. All in pretty good nick - ie buildings with roofing, just no fittings. The open courtyard would make a great place for general milling, and all the buildings could be individually themed, say beer and techno in the stables, indie and cocktails in the kitchens, chill-out room in the chapel (maybe wine and ambient house or Gregorian chants?). Plenty of space and views to die for, although if one had too many beers that might literally be the case as the parapets don't have much in the way of walls to demarcate walking area from sheer drop. And one wouldn't have to worry about heating, which our office parties sometimes lack, big-time. Hopefully that will swing the idea for HR.

Ok I must admit there may be the odd tiny drawback. Like its in Syria. Miles from anywhere. On top of a mountain. And when we were there we were unable to enjoy the view of it illuminated from the balcony of our hotel room because of a glitch with the electrics. And if I don't mention these little points I am sure HR would overlook them.  But apart from that, just a matter of a little imagination. (Prize for bet knight uniform fancy dress?)

On the way stopped at Hama. "Famous" for its waterwheels. Yeah. Well got some nice-ish photos which don't bring out the rubbish in the river. Pleasant enough way to spend half-an-hour break on the way.
