So a second consecutive night at the theatre, this time to see Posh. And a second night where I felt a play was trying to be too many things.
This is a thinly veiled poke at the posh boys running the country. Its a take on the Bullingdon Club, the play centring on a dining club of upper class university students behaving badly. They take over a room in a country pub for their feast, and things get out of hand, ending up with the proprietor getting a good kicking at the hands (or feet) of the drunken diners.
Now while the play stuck to being funny it worked very well. The couple of posh boy raps were very amusing. But when it shifted to being serious, well the wheels fell off. It changed gear very uneasily, and the main speech just didn't convince one that any posh lad would come out with. The only decent bit of drama was the way the youngsters turned on each other at the end.
So again, not a dull night out, but neither fish nor foul.
