Michael

Another trip to Hampstead Theatre to see this play, the second of the Vale of Heath series. Its an alternative to Japes which I saw a couple of weeks earlier. Same characters, but now the daughter is a teenager to start with, and the menage a trois of Michael, boother Japes and the siren Anita start middle-aged.

Its much shorter than Japes at an hour and 20 minutes, and the last scene is almost a carbon copy of Japes which made me feel short-changed, although not financially as the tickets were very reasonable. But I didn't expect to feel quite as unfulfilled. The story veers from being quite believable to not at all, and that's not unbelievable in the sense of far-fetched science fiction, but just the emotional interaction of the characters.

Ah well, one more of the series to go.
