As a bit of an experiment, Nigel and I headed out west to see this play at the Richmond Theatre. The star draw was Maureen Lipman in this 3 actor play. But actually for us I think the star was the trip. We had excellent seats at less than half the price of the West End, we (ok I) found a nice little gastro pub which allowed us to enjoy a nice meal and a pint at no great cost, and actually the trip from the City wasn't too long.
Oh, and the play was good too. An odd storyline. A retired Jewish couple in the States are practicing for a ball room dancing competition when the husband's brother turn's up suddenly after many years absence. As the conversation develops it turns out that the brother has just shot what was a concentration camp guard while on holiday, and he had previously been the wife's lover. Quite a lot of unravelling of the past, but very convincingly done.
