Elbow at the O2

Lets start with a few gripes. First, this was at he O2. Well that is the main gripe. Another freezing evening, more delays on Jubilee Line, long journey home.  And Elbow really would suit a smaller venue, but they have the level of popularity that fills arenas so that is where we are now.

Support act was John Grant, whose popularity also seems high, although meant nothing to me. He was good, assured, humorous, fine voice. Just personally not keen on his music.

And so onto Elbow. I saw a review which somewhat disparagingly called this a greatest hits tour. Well maybe it was but Elbow don't work much in hit singles. This was just a collection from all their albums, from what they called their oldest song, Any Day Now, to their latest album. Frankly, they could have played a completely different set list from those albums and left the audience happy. Only One Day Like This is a real hit, and actually I get a little bored hearing it. But they played my personal favourite, Fugitive Motel. So I was happy. You never leave an Elbow concert anything but happy. My guarantee.
