Koszeg

I really must finish up my Hungarian leg of this holiday with a word or two about my hosts. They really have built for themselves the most elegant villa out in Koszeg. It beautifully light and spacious and airy. It has the opulence that simple spaces provide, calm and sophisticated. I could start every day happily out on the shaded terrace reading and looking out over the garden cum orchard.

It really was a beautiful place to spend a week and I was most grateful for the invite. And nice to hang out with folk my own age for a change.

And what the garden, and the roof, has which you don't ever get back home, no matter how grand the establishment, is storks. Great big majestic birds, with a distinctive clacking sound, like a very slow motor.

And towards the end of the holiday I even got to meet and dine with Erika's parents
