Autumnal Walks - New River northbound

Saturday had seen torrential rain, followed by some more overnight, but Sunday morning showed signs of brightness, so I felt it was time to walk up the New River to Enfield again. I have done this walk a few times at varying times of the year. it is about 2 1/2 hours at a slow pace (ie mine, especially when as muddy as this and walking along a waterway, albeit a very shallow one). I start in Palmers Green by the new flats that were built into the grounds of Truro House. sadly this was the sunniest part of the day. All downhill, or at least all getting grayer, thereafter.

Basically the bird life on the New River, given it is really an aqueduct and not a river, is pretty lacking in variety. Only Coots, Mallard Ducks and Canada Geese. But to day I came across a lone cormorant.

Rather more Canada Geese...

Some bridges are not designed for crossing. especially this one....

The walk is not all along the river. Some very boring stretches through residential streets, plus one nice pathway right through the middle of Bush Hill Park Golf Course - yes below is a path with golf fairways either side of it.

And finally one reaches Gentleman's Row in Enfield.

So that was that. Back garden still retains a little floral interest even into November.
