This was a busy Sunday. First Sunday lunch with friends, then into the West End for afternoon drinks to celebrate a 60th birthday and then finally to the Apollo on a very wet night to see Wolf Alice on my own.
Support was Matt Maltese whom I had seen as a support act before. Nice enough singer songwriter, but no songs stood out from any other
I had not seen Wolf Alice before. This rescheduled tour was in support of their album Blue Weekend. All I can say is they did not disappoint. They have great range as a band from some stuff in the territory of London Grammar to some more like post punk. Lead vocalist Ellie Rowsell has a voice that somehow accommodates it all - sweet and soothingly melancholic at times, stridently raucous at others. An excellent act to see live.
