Lisbon Castle

Today we did two things on my itinerary, the design museum, about which the lads were not to excited, and the Castle, which went down much better.

The Design Museum is housed in an old bank. It means it has a vast reception area of polished marble. But with only one person on reception and a very slow old lady being served, it took forever to enter

The best part of the design museum to be honest is the terrace at the top for views of  Lisbon. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed.

The castle is just an excellent place to visit.  Not as crowded as I feared either. Eoin was sold just on the cannons. There are a lot of them!

We had lunch up at the castle. Overpriced not very good toasted sandwiches, but you pay for the view.

We had a visitor to our table....

Luka has mastered the mean and moody look without even trying!

Eoin, not so much😂

Eoin always up for the photo op. Funniest moment of the holiday was on our way to the castle. I will relate the incident without context first. A woman just pointed at Eoin and declared "You. Overweight.Get out!" A little harsh you might say for a young man with a little bit of a belly.

In context, we had been waiting for the elevator up to the castle. Luka and I got in to the fairly full lift fine but then Eoin squeezes on and the lift started bleeping. Hence the "overweight" cry was more a reflection of the lift than the lad. So we got out and waited for the next one. And laughed at Eoin a lot.

In the evening I suggested trying the fine looking Casa Do Alentejo for dinner. The menu looked good. The place looked terrific. Unfortunately the food was at best ordinary

My black pig tenderloin was actually lovely, the mash it came with was definitely not. And the service was abysmal. Glacially slow
