Almunecar

This trip to Andalucia was meant to be part restful retreat, part visit to Seville. So we arranged three nights in both, flying in and out of Malaga for ease of flights. But our flight would only get to Malaga in the evening, so we needed to find somewhere to stay overnight which would also give us a chance of getting dinner. So Thibault booked us into this large 4 star hotel in Almunecar.

I confess not a place I had ever heard of. An hour's drive from Malaga airport. An unfortunate flight delay left us very late for dinner. But we did find a Chinese restaurant open (no other customers - I think it was more in the nature of a takeaway.) But it served us and we were grateful!

As you can see, I had a massive bed. (Next morning it seemed clear that we had the wrong rooms - I got the massive sleeping quarters and Thibault and Clarissa go the smaller double without balcony)

The hotel had wonderful facilities and being out of season was very quiet. I think temperature was about 18C, so nice if not comfortable sunbathing weather. However, we only stayed long enough for lunch and a walk along the seafront. But the place served its purpose with plenty to spare. An excellent choice.
