My first day back from Helsinki and after work I popped across the road to the Barbican Centre to see Paul Heaton, ex lead singer of the Beautiful South and the Housemartins. I took one of my colleagues and her husband. A bit of a last hurrah for Emma as she is due to give birth in September, so may be a while before more gigs.
Was a good evening. The first half was a rock opera composed by Paul Heaton and performed by a number of not particularly well known singers, including Cherry Ghost and the lead singer of Los Camposinos.
The second half (which came as a slight surprise as we weren't sure there was a second half until we got the call while supping at the martini bar) saw the same group of singers perform a selection of Paul Heaton numbers over the years.
