Jumpy

An excellent fun play to see in the West End at the moment is Jumpy starring Tamsin Greig.

Ticks all the right boxes for an evening's entertainment; good dialogue, witty and moderately thoughtful about middle-aged relationships between partners and between parent and child. Apposite for me as the lead character is hitting 50. But very much a play written from the viewpoint of the older generation. I wonder if a teenager would find the teenage roles, particularly the daughter, a bit stereotyped. Would a teenager feel self-recognition or outrage at this portrayal? Anyway, very funny about older folk embarassing themselves in an attempt to seem young. One scene towards the end of the first half is absolutely priceless, one of the funniest moments I have ever seen at the theatre, in a cringeworthy way.
