One of Bath's most famous features is the Royal Crescent. a superb sweep of Georgian terracing, setting a standard for high density housing that we have rarely met since. It has a truly stunning setting. Unfortunately, the Bath Preservation Trust does not permit photography inside, so I am limited to views of the exterior. The museum has newly re-opened but its definitely worth a look.
In the evening one began to understand Tim's plight with his son now away at university. The gender balance has shifted and its away with the football and in comes Strictly Come Dancing. The ethos of this programme is fascinating. It is masquerading as dance contest, but of course it is nothing of the sort. It is difficult to convey the ridiculousness of watching a 69 year old ex-golfer toddling around unsteadily while a nubile young girl dances around him and pretend that he is in a dance contest. A tubby pensioner isn't as good at physical activity as 20/30 year old actor/model/sportsman. Well who would have thought it? How could we possibly have found that out without a competition? Next for a pensioner running against Usain Bolt to see who might convince the public is a better runner. What it is of course is light entertainment, some celebrity culture allied with a bit of choreography and some camp blokes pretending to be judges a la Simon Cowell.
