Monkey and Turtle Beaches

I made another trip to Penang National Park, but this time with a couple I had met and got on well with at the hotel. And this time with the intent to walk to Monkey Beach. Once again a lot of this was a coastal path walk, and very pretty too.

One atriking bit of wildlife we came across was a line of marching ants. We didn't get in their way.

Monkey beach was well signed. Nick in front of it.

More impressive than the ants, we came across a large monitor lizard.

After about an hour we acme, rather sweatily, on to Monkey Beach. Nick and Debbie below

And yes Monkey Beach did have some monkeys by it. A family of macaques.

Below is a little stretch of water flowing into the sea.

We resorted to one of the little beach shacks for a well-earned cold drink, some shade and a rather nice view.

Rather than walk back we got a little boat back, via Turtle Beach.

Now this rock is crocodile rock. Yes? You can just about see it, can't you?

And this one is Turtle rock. Look to the left of the picture below. Yes, again you can see it.

But this is rabbit rock. No really.

Turtle Beach is very disappointing. The turtle sanctuary is a couple of paddling pools with turtles. Pity, as I like turtles.
