Evening in Rovinj

And so to our final stay, Rovinj. We had a nicely situated little airbnb. It had two catches really. The first was parking. We were met by our host, a relatively elderly lady who intimated we should wait for her daughter since she spoke better English. She only really spoke German (this being a town more frequented by the Germans, and again with Austro-Hungarian links). This did however make Thibault's heart leap with joy as he could show off that he could speak fluent German too. His little face positively lit up.

However, the smile was somewhat wiped from his face in trying to manoeuvre the car into a parking space in a neighbour's yard that was, to put it mildly, a bit of a squeeze.

Inside, well Thibault got the best room, the double bedroom at the top of the house. This was the smallest of our airbnb properties, and while theoretically a three bed-roomed  house, in fact I slept in a corridor on the first floor. The second bedroom, and the stairs up to the master bedroom were all accessed through my room, as was the 1st floor toilet and shower. And the room was so small my case could only be opened using the bed, and otherwise had to stand upright as there was no more floor space.

I had a bit of bad luck in the sharing out of best rooms. We took it in turns to pick the best bedroom. Unfortunately in the week we were out there I only got one turn, on one one of the nights we had only a one night stay, the others being two night stays. to be honest, most of the other places the rooms were much of a muchness except that some had ensuites. This was the only one wher ethe third bedroom was definitely third.

Anyway, it was too late to do much other than unpack (in my case very little!) and head into the waterfront for a quick mooch around before dinner. And admire another sunset.

Our local church

And indeed another nice view of the moon too.

And finally, another fine dining experience. It took a long wait - when you do your research and find the better restaurants you tend to find they are popular too. Thibault was starting to feel they didn't want us, but eventually we were sat down, and supplied with blankets as it had now got quite chilly. But the food, and wine, was worth the wait. This was just the starter...
