Trsteno Arboretum

I am not sure an arboretum would have been the guys' lists of attractions, but I sold Trsteno as featuring on Game of Thrones, as I understand it has done. But I lied it for being a Renaissance Garden, albeit one that had been mucked about with a lot over the centuries, not least suffering from both communist rule and then the civil war.

Initially a bit disappointing for the struggle to make the turning and wend down to the entrance, it went up in our estimations when we found the view down from the terrace.

The old olive oil mill was bursting with rustic charm. If not olives.

St Jerome's Chapel

However, the flashiest sight, rather out of the blue comapered to the rest of the gardens, is the Baroque Fountain of Neptune.

To feed the fountain they needed to build a 70 metres long aqueduct.

So a short diversion from our journey up the Coast, but a pleasant one. Was worth the effort. Especially as while not tourist free it certainly wasn't crowded.
