This is one of the blockbuster exhibitions that the British Museum can do so well. They can take a big theme and look at it in different ways. So this was meant to show how the myths of the Trojan Wars have played out through the ages, and in doing so they touch upon the archaeological evidence for Troy, as well as taking the various strands of the Iliad and Odyssey and seeing how they were dealt with in art in both ancient and more modern times.
And if you get there first thing in the morning, as Nigel and I did, you can see it without the crowds.
This is the poster boy of the exhibition, a neo-classical sculpture of Achilles. It is very good. |
