August visitors

While I am not getting out much (deaths and marriages apart) I am getting the odd visitor. I had a long arranged Sunday lunch with my mates Bish and Andy which also allowed me to meet Andy's girlfriend for the first time. The weather just about held for us (summer heatwave looks well and truly over now), but was just a tremendously nice day for me. Relaxed chat in the afternoon, and as I had prepared everything cold, (sashimi, ham, cheese bread, strawberries and cream) no cooking required. So just a good laugh with good friends. (And Bish provided  me with unexpected bonus of some sausages he had no room for in the freezer - pork and black pudding. Ever so good!)

They won't appreciate just how much I enjoyed their company for an afternoon. Well maybe they do. Especially if they read this!

Earlier in the week I had a visit from my late friend's son - kebab for lunch and again just a nice chat about music, his school (and how he is missing it!) and so forth. Time passed very quickly. We are planning a bird-watching expedition just before he gets back to school, so that should be good. And a chance to test out my zoom lens on same water birds.

Beyond that, well just some garden photos to share. Best of the weather has definitely gone. As have the majority of my flowers, but the bigger, more showy blooms are coming to the fore now. Quality not quantity!
