The American Museum

On the edge of Bath, in the sort of wonderful location you would never now get planing permission to build at, stands the American Museum. It is the one museum in the UK dedicated to the history of the US and it is a superbly presented story, all housed in a beautiful Georgian house with stunning gardens and view across the valley.

This is actually the ladies toilets, but for once I think I can be forgiven for taking photos around the ladies....

This is a bust of Alexander Hamilton, of Hamilton the musical fame.

And this is me!

Inside the museum there are effectively two sections. The basement tells the history of the USA with various artifacts and a lot of storyboards.

Upstairs is a series of rooms set out as the front rooms of an American home from the 17th century to the mid 19th century

Back into the gardens again...

All too exhausting for the old folk....
