Another trip up to Nottingham to see Eoin and Niamh and take in a gig. This time Hard Fi. For me, second time I seeing them in a week. This doesn't make me a fanatic. Just that having booked the Nottingham tickets they added a small gig onto the beginning of their tour at Dingwalls. Which is a nice intimate venue, but lighting is dreadful so got no worthwhile photos. It was worth doing the two gigs as they were quite different set lists. In London they played all four tracks from their new EP in the middle of the set. In Nottingham only one new track made the cut.
Anyway, as is now traditional, we started the evening, after a couple of drinks with dinner at the superlative Calcutta Club. The chicken platter, shown here, is to die for.
Not at Rock City for doors open, which was ridiculously early at 6:30 but I think that is because they get gigs to finish early to turn the place into a night club. But we were in time to see support from Better Joy
Before the now middle aged Hard Fi came on and did very good set in front of very enthusiastic audience.Fortunately my young companions enjoyed the gig even if not familiar with the artists
Next day we met for Sunday lunch in an interesting pub, the Hand and Heart, which as you can see is built into the sandstone on which Nottingham is based. So sort of eating in cave. We were early for lunch - the place was full by the time we left.
