Lucerne

Returning from Northern Italy by train we decided upon a one night break somewhere in Switzerland. And I preferred Lucerne in part because there didn't seem an awful lot to do there, so given we only had an afternoon it might fit the bill. Because of an unfortunate train problem in Milan we arrived somewhat later than we had hoped. Which was a real pity as we could have done with a few more hours in the city.

We quickly dumped our bags into the Hotel Wilden Mann - nice rooms - olde worlde charm.

Then out for a late afternoon stroll around Lake Lucerne

Yes, that is snow on the ground

What those night-time photos can't show is just how bitterly cold it was. We might have spent more time out had it been only a few degrees milder. And the bars were all rammed inside

Next day train home....
