Rather odd background to this gig. My young friend Luka was back for a week from university but only date we could find free between us was Monday evening. And while there were loads of gigs on Sunday, and plenty on Tuesday, Monday night seemed bare. But I did find this duo playing at the Lower Third, not a venue I had been to before, and not an act I had heard of before. But I looked them up online and listened to some of their tracks and they sounded similar to London Grammar so I decided to give them ago and take Luka.
And it was well worth doing. Very cool act in a cool venue. But what made it surreal was that this was their farewell show - so the audience was full of long time fans and we had come across them only the night before!
An odd duo, in that the bloke looked like he spent all his time in the gym preparing for the Romanian arm wrestling championships and was there in his vest, while she was the epitome of elegance in tight black dress but had the very the slightest of figures, as if only a few mouthfuls from anorexia. But lovely voice, and charming if relentlessly sad songs.
