Thursday's Fiasco and Skaface at the Dublin Castle

I had seen Skaface before at the Dublin Castle and it was an evening of pure joy. SO I went for a repeat and wasn't disappointed. 

The opening act were, like Skaface, from Blackpool, but unlike Skaface, not totally a covers band. They mixed their own material with a good mix of covers from Erasure's Respect to Oasis's Champagne and Alcohol. Because there was only one support they got to do a rather longer set than most supports do, and that was all to the good. They had everything you might reasonably want - good vocals, good music, fun personality. Would have been very happy to have paid my £10 just to see them. Much happier spending £10 to hear them play Oasis from six feet away than £150 to see the real Oasis from 60 metres

While Thursday's Fiasco were a four piece and fitted easily onto the stage, there were nine of them in Skaface, and it was a tight squeeze. Vocalist, two guitarists, two sax, keyboards, drummer in back corner, trumpeter and trombonist. But together a great sound, and all ska covers. And honestly all performed better than the originals, as in terms of talent and musicianship these guys have the edge. Especially the vocalist

Was just a great fun evening, enjoyed by a smattering of young people amidst the dancing pensioners. Nothing like live entertainment. Ad really cheap
