Another Oxford weekend

The annual dinner of my old college Law Society has now turned into a compulsory event in my calendar. Dressing up in the old DJ is rather nice, as is the food, and drink, and going back to the old place. The company too, although it is rather difficult trying to introduce oneself to the younger persons as to whether they are undergraduates or junior lawyers. The ones I thought were undergrads were at least trainees, if not qualified lawyers. Young lawyers look younger these days....

Sadly we drank the college dry at the reception, so I was talked into going to the college bop afterwards. A big mistake. I had one drink then left. I am too old for that sort of thing. Much too old.

Saturday I stayed with my local friends. For lunch we found a pub that would show the football, young Ivo being for no accountable reason a Wigan fan. We rather anticipated having to comfort the poor chap as Everton were obviously a much better bet to win their FA Cup quarter-final. But no. You never can tell with football. Three Wigan goals in rapid succession in the first-half left a very happy eight-year-old. To celebrate we went for a walk round Magdalene Deer Park on a very cold day. A stark contrast to the sunny weekend this time last year. But plenty of evidence of Spring on the ground.
