Osterley

Not much to say. Glorious day, albeit perishingly cold. So felt I had to get out for a bit of exercise. And decided to go to the other side of London, but easy to reach spot, being just the other end of the Piccadilly Line. Osterley is a National Trust property, and slightly odd in that it is an oasis in a built up area. One moment you are on a suburban street and the next in an estate with farmland and cattle.

The fine Robert Adam house is closed for the winter, but the park and gardens are open for a walk

They also had a little exhibition in the basement of a selection of items from the main collection. Quite a neat idea as when everything is together inevitably one doesn't "see" everything in a room. And in addition to some choice items, one could take in the staircase.

A little blue john vase, blue john being a mineral found only in Derbyshire
