Jerez

To give Thiabult a day off from driving, but nevertheless to get a day out, we headed off to Jerez. (Ok there may have been some thought of sherry too....) So we took the train.

Only catch? Jerez's main tourist site, the castle, was closed. A number of other daytrippers looked like they too had been caught unawares. It looked like it was closed, not for renovations, but for some commercial filming. We felt a little cheated to be honest....

Obviously there was still the cathedral. (Every Spanish city has a castle and a cathedral). So here is the Cathedral of San Salvador

There are nativity sets, and then there are nativity sets....

The cathedral's top art treasure, The Sleeping Girl by Zurbaran.

Anyway, we took a pretty comprehensive walk around the old town before going on a tour of a Bodega, basically a sherry distillery, with a tasting at the end. And we were not disappointed. It was good end to the day.

It's a thing apparently to get the famous to sign your sherry barrel...

The modern visitor centre for the actual tasting.
