Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (or "TEED" to aficionados) is an act rather than a band. Its actually a skinny bloke from Sheffield whose real name is Orlando Higginbottom (so TEED doesn't seem so outlandish a name now, does it?).
I was going to say this sort of music is really for teenage boys who don't get out of their bedrooms enough. But that's the wrong way round. Its music BY boys who don't get out of their bedrooms enough. This went for the support, Roosevelt, too. A scrawny lad in a t-shirt, who did everything himself. And this is the mark of this sort of stuff. In the old days you would have to meet some like minded lads to create a band, or busk with an old guitar. But this lad could do it all himself with computer deck, keyboard, occasional guitar and cymbal, supported by rather than featuring his vocals, which are ok but nothing special. But its not about the vocals. You aren't there to listen to the lyrics, just to enjoy the poppy electronic music. Anyway, I did quite like young Roosevelt.
Then on to the main act, TEED. The same style really, although with occasional support from a singer, Louisa, and a couple of dancers in various forms of what I could only describe as dinosaur inspired bikinis.
Unlike Roosevelt Orlando has a penchant for dressing up - a sort of extroverted introvert. This was basically his debut album Trouble played out. And the nature of this electronic stuff is that you can expand it as you like. An enjoyable evening, and Orlando had the benefit of a light show to add to the entertainment. Entertaining it was even though ultimately its only a little bloke from Sheffield with a rather wimpy voice. But that may be all you need these days. Computers can do the rest. It allows a cerebral approach to music in place of the rock god requirement. The geeks are cool now.
