Mile End

You would be hard pressed to imagine a less likely place to find a little group of "country" cottages than here just off Mile End Road. There is just a little alley to take you into the dead end that is Mile End Place. These are 19th century workers cottages, now no doubt highly desirable as although small they are in a little traffic free enclave. A testament to the type of person that lives here is the splendour of the small front gardens.

This is Howard Stern House, a comparative newcomer to the Mile End Road dating to only 1913. Previously a home for elderly Jews.

This is the grand frontage to Queen Mary College

In front of the college is the clock tower and drinking fountain. Rather over scale

At this point you can climb up steps to visit Mile End Park which straddles the main road, and offers views across London.

As I say, the park straddles Mile End Road, the two halves linked by the Green Bridge.
