A walk through Newcastle

A second weekend up the West Coast line, but this weekend getting off at Newcastle to see my old university friend Mike. Always an immense pleasure. Especially the Friday night routine of beer and curry. As traditional as turkey on Christmas day, but far nicer!

On Saturday we went for a walk through some lesser known areas of the city.

A railway pub next to an old railway carriage, now home to an Indian restaurant. What more could you ask for?

Not a sight you see every day. Family is swans out for a stroll on the streets.

A Heath Robinson contraption

 Where the swans were headed.

As I said, a Heath Robinson contraption. Quite fun.

 St Nicholas' cathedral

The old Black Friars monastery, now an upmarket restaurant and bar.

The Town Moor. Yes Newcastle actually has a moor inside it. With cattle. And cow pats
And then on Monday before getting on the train I did a further little walk on my own, mostly centring on St Nicholas Cathedral.
