Plaza d'Espana

So for our final full day in Seville (next day was really just packing, a long lunch and then flying home) I picked a visit to Seville's best free attraction, the magnificent Plaza De Espana built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exhibition.

Eoin was suitably impressed. Well it is hard not to be.

Beyond the Plaza is the extensive Parque Maria Luisa, which includes some further pavilions erected for the 1929 exhibition

I had suggested we visit Triana, the district on the other side of the river, after the park, but we were gasping with thirst. And almost like a mirage, an outdoor bar was in front of us, with bar people and no other customers. A dream come true. We downed two or three drinks and headed off to Triana which was a bit disappointing in truth, except for some nice views back across to Seville and the Torre del Oro

But as it was getting late we decided to stay in the area and have dinner. But my chosen restaurant wasn't open so we went into a little bar opposite which was just really nice (and non-touristy). And the restaurant that we ended up in was also excellent, so all in all a very fine end to a very fine trip.
