Lyon

So our Lyon trip hadn't got off to the best of starts with the train strike the day before. We turned up at our accommodation early afternoon and weren't impressed with the service here either. We were asked to wait, which was fine as one of the three staff was on the phone. But when she finished she just turned to the other two and was chatting away happily, totally ignoring us. Eventually she left and the bloke got round to us, but hardly the most welcoming introduction to the city.

Anyway, having dumped our stuff again we went out to reconnoiter the city. It is supposed to be one of the prettier cities in France. Initial appearances did not disappoint. We decided just to potter about this afternoon rather than pick on any particular destination.

The lido by the river (well actually there are two rivers which merge in Lyon - Rhone and Saone.)

Only so much sightseeing before the siren call of a wine bar....

Palais de Justice

Of course there is a cathedral...

More wine and charcuterie. (Yes there is a theme here....)

And finally dinner (and a French restaurant). Foie gras starter was amazing!
