V&A - Korean Wave

As a member of the V&A I tend to see all the exhibitions to get my money's worth! So this trip was mainly to see the Korean Wave exhibition. And interesting one on the way that South Korean culture has been the dominant culture of East Asia, more so in recent years than Japan or China. It was worth going to but I might have jibbed at the entrance fee if I had to pay separately for it.

This was an interesting phenomenon arising out of K Pop - fans can send ready made up gifts to send to their favourite pop stars

I also took in the modern African fashion exhibition. This was essentially the usual preposterous and impractical designs you see, but with an added layer of total bollocks. This infoboard is a good example. The fashions it showed in no way appeared to fit this pious crap. But it is at least amusing to read this drivel and imagine some poor sod being given the task to come up with this meaningless crap. Just look at the costumes below and see if your first thought is how they "discuss the pressing concerns of our day"

This was very cool - entirely made out of cowrie shells. Although not exactly streetwear.

But the V&A's glory is always the enormous and varied permanent collection

And this was this year's "christmas tree"
