Sunday not in Versailles

So the plan for Sunday was to get up early and go to Versailles' extensive gardens on our last day.

Well we got to an overcast Versailles

But that is as far as we got, as Clarissa feared it was going to rain and we didn't have rainproofs as rain wasn't forecast. So we just turned on our heels and returned to Paris. (And no it never did rain.)

Due to issues with the trains we took longer than expected to get back, so basically we just got back in time for lunch

And after lunch, we indulged at a creperie.

But I finally managed to persuade my companions to go to a proper museum, the Museum Carnavalet. This is the Paris History Museum, and was a very good mix of attractive things top see while absorbing lots of information on Paris (and especially its very turbulent 19th century)

And that was the end of my French adventure with Thibault and Clarissa. They headed back to London. But not me. I had a second leg ahead of me - evening train to Vannes and a week with my old school friend in rural Brittany. But not the most auspicious start. The train was late (although not as late as Thibault and Clarissa's Eurostar back to London.) Most irritating part as most of the lateness was right at the very end when we had been told we were only 5 minutes from the station so everyone left their seats and queued by the door. Only for the train to come to a complete halt, and then crawl at not much more than walking pace into the station.
