Vrtbovska Garden and Wenceslas Square

Another baroque garden on the slopes of the Petrin Hill. A triple terrace. Just a lovely place to be.

Not much modern sculpture in Prague, but this is just by the National Theatre

Wenceslas Square is a disappointment for those devoted to geometry; it is far from a square. Its a very elongated rectangle. See?

The "Square" is in the New Town, and so has some fine art nouveau architecture - especially the Hotel Europa

Also in the vicinity is the Mucha Museum, a museum devoted to Alfons Mucha. One might not know his name but he was probably in his time the world's most highly acclaimed artist in the art nouveau style. He is a contemporary of all your Monets and other impressionists, but at the time was far more popular. No photos of it as the museum is housed in a non-descript building and inside it no photos are allowed. Why? Well I suspect because they have so little in the way of exhibits they wouldn't want anyone to see. But at the end of what is basically one long gallery is a video about Mucha. So in effect you paid your fiver to watch a short film. But it was a good, interesting film, so I didn't feel short-changed.
