Barcelona Cathedrals old and new.

Today was to be cathedral day. With my tickets for Sagrada Familia late morning I decided to make an early morning visit to the gothic cathedral in the old Gothic town. If one enters from Placa Nova one finds in the corner little bit of Roman aqueduct.

But on to the cathedral itself.

Usual arrangement of large nave with little side chapels

But one has to go up to the roof to really enjoy the place. Both for the views off it but also to see the spires and buttresses close up.

Back down to the cathedral floor.

The other great joy are the cloisters

The only residents of the cloisters are 13 geese. Of course.

Ok, I will open a new page for the next modern (ish) cathedral as a contrast, Sagrada Familia
