Casa Batillo

Day two in Barcelona and today I started with another nearby Gaudi apartment block, Casa Batllo. This is my favourite of Gaudi's works. Just a beautiful house. It must have cost a fortune to build as all the materials are top order and the style is so palpable. Attention to detail is wonderful. Well just look at it, from the eccentric exterior to the sumptuous interiors.

A cozy little snug by the boiler with inbuilt seats.

The house has not a garden but a terrace courtyard, extravagantly decorated

The attic is cleverly designed to admit natural light and air but avoid water seepage with these overlapping scales

On top, yes of course more extravagant chimneys. More colourful than La Pedrera

These are the slats from the outside that give the natural light to the attic
