Musee Jacquemart Andre

This is an absolutely brilliant private art collection, but a bit out of the way from the main tourist sights, so not such long queues, and only queues at all because they only decided to man one of the ticket points.

The collection is large and varied, built up in  the 19th century by French banker Edouard Andre and his artist wife Nelie. He built the house too, a magnificent one with a courtyard in the back.

The interiors are sumptuous.

The most superb part is the staircase come conservatory which lets in light to the interior, and a great setting for some classical statues.

Val on the way up in the world

There is a very fine renaissance gallery with some major works by Uccello Boticelli and the like

Evening meal was in a strange little place I found which specialised in frogs legs. As one review rightly described it, not a big menu but what id does, it does well. We had the basement to ourselves. As you can see.

Then a walk through Place Des Vosges in twilight on way back to our apartment
