Congaree National Park

First up, just had to get out of the car and photograph a cotton field.

"There is literally nothing like it on the planet" said my guide book, enticingly. . It contains the most ancient old-growth cypresses in the world. So of course we had to visit the Congaree National Park for a walk on our way to Columbia with that write up. Big let down. Thibault really hated it and turned it into a race-walking circuit, tutting every time I tried to dwell for a photo of some fungi. (Hey, I like mushrooms.)

To be honest, the photos below flatter it. Mostly it was a rather featureless walk in the woods with added mosquitoes.
