Helen

Helen is the most kitsch spot I have been to on this planet, even beating the sheep petting farm in Taiwan. It is a mock German town, and this was Oktoberfest. Disneyland is gritty realism in comparison. Ditto the Sound of Music.

But for us this was the base for more hiking, more waterfalls, more forests.

 We found a winery for lunch. Better reviewed than the food (or wine) deserved, but the setting made up for it.
