Victoria Park

I slipped off piste from my Regents Park walk to have a wander around part of Victoria Park. The Victorian pagoda by the lake is particularly stunning, although the Chinese Bridge that should complement it is covered with barriers, or it would feature more below too.

Part of the Chinese bridge, cunningly photographed to avoid the metal barriers. At least they meant it wasn't cluttered with walkers!

The Dogs of Alcibiades. Apparently these are copies of copies. The pair originally donated by a local worthy were in a terrible state of repair with chipped off muzzles. The "originals" were themselves copies of a Roman piece of statuary of a Molossian Hound. And if you haven't heard of that type of dog, its because it is a Greek breed that is now extinct, but was the guard dog of choice in ancient Greece and Rome.

From one angle one could just catch the "rainbow" from the sun catching the plume of the fountain.
