Kenwood on a grey day

One of the problems with this time of year, especially this time of year, is you can't fix to do anything more than a few days ahead without uncertainty as to the weather. So I agreed to meet a friend for a walk on Hampstead Heath on a day which turned out to be very grey and cold.

Well never mind. Would look much better with blue skies, but it was what it was. Will do it again on a nicer day. Anyway, here is the famous Spaniards Inn.

Great views of London from the Heath

In front of Kenwood House the gardens were landscaped by Humphry Repton, so unsurprisingly picturesque.

The houses outbuildings are what I would describe as comfortably attractive in red brick.

But the house itself is very grand, as you would expect from an Adams house. But even better if its white exterior was lit by sunshine against a blue sky....

More modest aesthetics back home
