I would recommend on any visit to Lisbon to take the rain a little along the coast and visit the pretty resort of Cascais. If taking a dip is one's aim, well there are opportunities for that
But my main aim was the Palacio, orginally built a s a fortress but which became a royal palace. Now there is exhibition space around a courtyard
But f course what I wanted to do was go into the palace. And indeed made sure we came her on Wednesday afternoon as it is shut Mondays and Tuesdays. Unfortunately for us, it was also shut this Wednesday. The bloke explained that it was a palace not a museum so not always open. He did say this while standing in front of a sign saying "Museum of the palace..." but no point arguing😒
So for us it was just a walk around the courtyard and then around the fortress walls
