Porto - "Harry Potter" bookshop and municipal museum and art gallery

The one place Mike wanted to visit on this trip (that wasn't on my exhaustive itinerary), was the so-called Harry Potter bookshop. It's called that because apparently it was JK Rowling's inspiration for a magic shop in Harry Potter.

Now it is possibly the most profitable bookshop in the world judging by the queues and the crowds. You have to book online, and pay a booking fee which is redeemable against a book purchase. Outside there are several queues depending on your entry time. There are 15 minutes slots. And the books inside are all luxury versions -  no cheap paperbacks.

But inside it is a remarkable interior, although heaving with tourists, particularly oriental ones.

Children's books appetite duly satiated, next stop was inevitably a church. This is Igreja do Carmo.

They love their relics. Creepy death cult really.

This is the City Hall. Big square in front

And now to teh main museum and gallery in Porto. Nice seeing a lot of Portuguese art as one just doesn't see it outside the country. Can you name a Portuguese artist?

As you can see, not as popular as the Harry Potter bookshop.

From there we headed into terraced gardens overlooking the Douro
