Brancaster (and Norfolk Lavender)

We never did make our ultimate destination today. First stop was for some retail therapy for Alison at the Norfolk Lavender farm. Yes, there are rows of lavender just off the A road, but the
main reason for stopping is to visit the cavernous lavender-themed gift shop. Vast quantities of tat. Our arrival reduced the average age of the customers by several decades.

Having escaped that fate, we headed up to the coast and got out at Brancaster, once home of a Roman fort, but now just an awful lot of beach. Lovely. And as you can see, not too overcrowded.

But our real target was a ferry across to an island for a RSPB reserve. I found out by bribing the local ice-cream seller that it wasn't going to run again until Saturday, so that was the end of that. Except for a pretty creek to wander round with jolly good ice-cream.

Finally we drove on to Holkham Hall to see what was there, and whether it was worth returning to. It was.
