While the kids mouldered back in the cottage and Dave and Alison did a bicycle tour of the estate, I actually ventured into Holkham Hall. Have to say I loved the place. Great entrance hall as you can see, and very welcoming staff. Only catch was that it was a little busy. Its a destination for coach tours. I bewailed the influx of old people cluttering up the place. I was told that I was an old person. Some mistake surely. The mirror lies.
This little marble relief records a momentous event - the sculptor killed two woodcocks with one shot. Well there was no TV in those days....
The parrot bedroom
This area is for guest. Still. And the made this room a bathroom. Plonking a bath ine the middle. Cool
The library chair is awaiting restoration. Been left a little long.
A Rubens, possibly the best of a fine art collection.
