The City of Arts And Sciences

This Eastern end of the park contains a series of quite stunning pieces of modern architecture, nearly all created by a local architect Santiago Calatrava. Now rather like the millennium dome, one might question the need for these edifices, but what has been produced, at no doubt prodigious cost, certainly has the wow factor.

This is a children's playground based on Gulliver's travels - note the hand coming out from under the face...

Below right is the Hemesferic, which basically contains a state of the art cinema for IMAX films etc. Does one need one? Well if you are going to have one, this is the very most stunning building to house it. "Cool" is a very overused word, but surely applies to these structures.

Below is the next building along, the Science Museum, which we visited on our way home

And below is the Umbracle - basically a walkway over a multi storey car park in the form of an elongated conservatory

The Palace of the Arts

And here is the inside of the Science Museum, which we visited after exploring the aquarium (see next entry)

Yes an awesome building, but a lot of space with not a lot in it. And the trouble with this sort of museum, or at least the upper floor that we visited, is that you don't look at the exhibits as much as read them. A book would be a better medium for conveying the science.
