The Oceanografic

Oceanografic is simply the best aquarium I have ever visited, certainly the most extensive. I think we saw all of it, but it is so large with so many different tanks (plus space up outside for birds and aquatic creatures) that it was hard to tell.

Not much to say that isn't evident from the pictures so will leave you with them. But just one point to note - how very naturalistic the settings were both indoors and out. This isn't just a series of fish tanks.

The structure below is essentially a bird cage

A large cage you can wander around surrounded by ibises, herons and spoonbills is amazing. They are lovely, big birds. But with big birds who happily go up into trees comes something else big. Bird poo. As Mike found to his cost! And of course you can never find a toilet to clean up when you really need one...

Not just fish, birds and amphibians here. Also see mammals like these seals. And you can see them on the surface but also go down below and see them swimming underwater

Although this looks an amazing photo, this Komodo Dragon was made of resin. Extremely realistic, except for its extreme inertia!

A penguin observatory

We ended with a walk through the shark tank
