After our week in Valencia I had planned we spend four days in Zaragoza before flying home from Barcelona. I had booked our train tickets ages ago, online. So we turned up at Valencia station in plenty of time for our train thanks to our uber. But looking at the departures board, when our service came up unlike the others it didn't have a platform number allocated to it. Instead there were the three ominous letters "BUS". Yes it turned out our train was a replacement bus service. For a five hour journey.
So that day was a right off. We got to our flat, got the key off the young lady who basically spoke no English, and called it a night.
Next day our main target was the palace, the Aljaferia. This was a Moorish fortified palace built in the mid eleventh century. Now it is partly a museum but also the seat of the Aragon parliament.
| I took a photo of this for its unusual subject matter - a schoolboy getting his bare bottom thrashed! |
| Local lad made good- the artist Goya is from Zaragoza |
