Agrigento arrival

We reached our apartment in Agrigento just in time for a very late lunch. Fortunately there was restaurant nearby. Which had amazing views of the Valley of the Temples. And a proper posh restaurant which was a surprise as all the buildings approaching it seemed very down at heel. So, good food, it stayed open for us, whats not to like? Well we were the only ones there, and the restaurant piped the most excruciating muzak - well known songs slowed down to a crawl and whispered by the vocalists

So much for the views. Our apartment overlooked the valley of the temples below us, but behind us was the old town of Agrigento. Another hilltop town. Obviously we had to visit the cathedral - which is on the highest point. My God that was a climb!

Now that is what I call a book...

A particularly macabre exhibit even by the standards of Catholic churches - a mummified knight

And views from the top of the roof...
