This was a free gig, so even though I was seeing Bones Ate Arfa on Saturday, I thought why not catch them at this little venue as well. Hadn't heard of the openers or the headliners, so a voyage of discovery.
Big Truck were not as bad as I feared, but certainly nothing about them to make me want to see them again.
Bones Ate Arfa were good of course. Even bought a CD off them out of their little merch stock. Photos don't do them justice as the lighting at the Old Blue Last doesn't make photography easy. Couldn't really get much apart from of Bones who was right in front of me.
So this outfit Knives were the headliners. They were atrocious. Six of them just about squeezed on to the small stage which was barely big enough to take the vast, fat lead "singer". I lasted two "songs" before I quit. If your idea of music is to watch a tub of lard shouting over a random cacophony then they might be for you. Anyone else; AVOID ! Still it was a free gig; how much can you expect for nothing?
